Trying The Ordinary

You can spot the simplistic packaging from The
Ordinary a mile off - probably because you've seen it all over Instagram and your favourite blogs. Their part of the Deciem umbrella and focus on giving good quality skincare without the expensive price tag. You can read the
full ethos on their website, where they explain it a little better than I can.

It's stocked on both and, along with many more, but if you want student discount (10% off) then I'd say purchase from ASOS. Although, neither have the full range available due to it's popularity it's regularly going out of stock but keep checking!

I decided to try two products to start with. The first being the High Fluidity Spreadability Primer, which is a silicone based primer aimed to smooth the surface of the skin ensuring foundation glides over and blends well. I clearly didn't read the description very well because I've mentioned before my not-so-loving attitude towards silicone based primers, the feeling makes my skin crawl. But I spent money on it so I was determined to give it a proper test.

It definitely smooths the skin out and my foundation glides over the top for a pore-less finish. I even find my foundation goes further, my skin doesn't soak it up and as a result I'm using less. It definitely makes my foundation last longer, usually my skin eats away at it around my mouth and jaw but it still looked intact after a sweaty five hours at work. Despite the initial gross, slimy feeling, I have been thoroughly impressed by the primer and will continue to use it.

Next up is the Salicylic Acid 2% Solution aimed at blemish-prone skin. You apply it directly onto a blemish both AM and PM and let me tell you this - it works wonders. I was apprehensive with my history of allergic reactions to spot gels but this didn't sting or have any adverse effects. It has helped to clear up some seriously painful under the skin spots that were brewing in a matter of days. It's now a staple in my skincare routine.

All in all, I am super impressed with these two products and I definitely want to try more from the range - especially for how much they cost!
