L'Oreal True Match Foundation

I'm going to be honest with you, the last time I tried the L'oreal True Match foundation; I absolutely hated it. It clung to dry patches, it made my skin look weird, it lasted all about 30 seconds, I could go on... I couldn't understand the hype at all. I was a no from me.

Due to previous experience, I avoided picking up the new formula in the new fancy bottle despite the continuous hype. But on a recent food shop in ASDA with my mum, I picked it up for £7. I felt like I had to try it again, especially for that price - "it's for the good of the blog" I whispered as I lowered it into the trolley.

You know what? I'm bloody glad I did!
The formula has been improved so much and I'm so glad I tempted myself into trying it again because I haven't worn anything else on my face since. I'd say it has a good medium coverage, I apply an extra layer where I need it (T-zone), it builds up the coverage easily without looking cakey.

I definitely wouldn't say it's matte nor dewy, it sits somewhere within a demi-matte/natural finish. For those with dryer skin types, would probably only need a light dusting of powder to set and you're good to go. My skin is leaning towards oily at the minute and so needs powdering throughout the day, but I don't really mind the glow and only powder down my t-zone. But if you love your bases super matte, then this probably won't suit you.

I picked up the shade N2 Vanilla, without a tan this is definitely not my shade (NC15 usually) however post-fake tan, this is perfect for matching my face to the rest of my body.

The finish of this foundation is like nothing I own, it leaves the skin looking so airbrushed and perfected. I've received so many compliments whist wearing this which is usually a good sign considering the state of my skin usually.

Benefit Stay Don't Stray

I absolutely love Benefit as a whole, the products are adorable and their customer service is great - if you follow them on twitter you'll know that as soon as someone has a problem, or needs advice their head make-up artists are straight on there with friendly advice. Wish all brands were like that.

As I've mentioned before I am obsessed with their head make-up artist Lisa Potter-Dixon's YouTube channel (and snapchat too), she mainly uses Benefit products and in a similar effect to Charlotte Tilbury, I find after watching her video, I want everything.

My first Lisa-influenced purchase was the Stay Don't Stray Primer. It's marketed as a tinted eyeshadow primer and it comes in two shades 'light/medium' and 'medium/deep'. However it can also be used underneath the eyes either in place of or as a primer for concealer, great for days when you really want your make-up to last.

Lisa absolutely swears by it and I can see why. The tint is not thick enough for those days when the bags under my eyes are chanel in which case I wear it underneath the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer, but for good skin days/no make-up make-up this is perfect on it's own. It has a yellow undertone which helps to counteract any blueness such as veins on the eyelid or dark circles.

As an actual eyeshadow primer, it's wonderful. It holds my eye shadow in place all day and allows to shadows appear true to colour on the lid. It's a must have for any eye shadow lover!

Freedom Duo Brow Powder | Taupe

As I mentioned in the #revolutionbirthday post (which you can read - here) Freedom is a brand under the TAM Beauty umbrella that features brands such as Make-up Revolution and I <3 Make-up, it is marketed as a brand aimed at make-up artists looking for high quality products without the hefty price tag. They offer so many dupes for more expensive brands such as MAC, Anastasia Beverly Hills etc. but are completely affordable.

I am loving their Duo Brow Powder in the shade Taupe. Firstly on first glance it is almost identical to the ABH offering; two very slightly different shades housed in the same pan in a small round compact.

The shade range is gorgeous, it has everything from blonde right the way through to ashy blacks covering everything in between. You're certainly going to find your right shade with 10 to choose from! The shade taupe is very ashy, no red tones in sight - hallelujah.

I love that there are two shades, very rarely will you find that all your brow hairs are the exact same colour, so why fill them in with one colour? by mixing the two you can get a much more natural looking brow. They also have good pigmentation and are totally matte. But do you want to know the best part? this incredible product is only £3!

Have you tried anything from Freedom?

Spring Lip Picks

Out of all my make-up, I find switching up my lip colour is the easiest way to keep up with trends. I'm a swipe and dash kinda gal, so anything that requires too much effort is saved for days when I can be arsed (which is rare, let me tell you)

THE EVERY DAY: YSL Rouge Volupte -1
I go on and on about how much I love this lip colour but it is the ultimate spring lip colour. The soft pink, slightly sheeny hue really perks up the complexion. The formula is lightweight and easy to apply, I love re-applying this throughout the day the gold packaging sure adds a touch of luxury to my day.

THE GLOSS:  Maybelline Colour Elixir 500 Mandarine Rupture
This beautiful coral hue is super hydrating and glossy without being sticky. I love sheer corals for a touch of colour without being too high maintenance and opaque. The tiny packaging is great for just throwing into your handbag and the applicator is perfectly moulded to the curve of your lips making it a breeze to apply.

THE STATEMENT: Rimmel London Lasting Finish By Kate Moss - 20
There was a serious toss up between opting for a bold orange/red or a true bright pink, but I'm saving the orange hues for summer. This blue toned pink not only brightens the complexion but the blue tones help to make the teeth appear whiter - winning! The formula has a moisturising finish so is comfortable to wear and glides over any problem areas. Pair with minimal eye make-up; perhaps a slick of white liquid eye liner (like this one from Rimmel) and you've got yourself a fresh twist on a classic spring look.

Top - Bottom: YSL, Maybelline, Rimmel

What are your go-to lip colours for spring?
