Beauty Trend Round Up | NYFW AW16

I only keep a close eye on fashion weeks to see what beauty trends were going to see throughout the different seasons. Some shows go for extreme editorial looks, where you have to merely interpret the trend but others tend to go for more relaxed, refined looks all about enhancing beauty.

The first very obvious trend was the graphic eye. Different designers sported this trends with different textures, whilst Oscar De La Renta used more of a liner effect, Marc Jacobs and Diane von Furstenberg opted for eyeshadows to create graphic designs. This look is paired with flawless, clean skin so that the eyes can take the focus.

Other than the graphic trend, the eyes were kept fairly minimal across all the shows. With washes of earthy tones seen at Victoria Beckham, Vera wang used a wash of cream eyeshadow in a shimmery shade and Carolina Herrera used soft browns to define the eyes. The shadows were used more to add definition rather than draw attention to that particular area of the face. It's very soft and minimal and a complete breeze to re-create.

A re-occuring theme through the majority of the shows was flawless, highlighted skin. Of course it's a bit difficult not to have flawless skin as a trend when you're working with models. But the key was keeping the skin fresh, there was a significant lack of contour and strong cheek shades, instead these were replaced with soft natural pink hues and a whole load of highlight. Pack away your full coverage, matte foundations, insane heavy contouring and baking and embrace your glow!
The final major beauty trend seen at NYFW is a statement, crisp bold lip. In two shades - brick red or deep dark burgandys. I am completely obsessed with the Rodart look; the skin was clean and highlighted, with a light metallic wash across the lid, all paired with a dark burgundy lip which I believe was Nars Train Bleu Velvet Matte Lip Pencil. This has gone straight onto my wishlist. Victoria Beckham also sent some of her models down the runway with a bold brick red pout and fresh, paired back skin ensuring the lips were the focus.

There was a spot of glitter coming through shows such as Jenny Packam and Tommy Hilfiger, lightly dusted on and around the eyes. Now this makes me very happy, give me all the glitter damn it!

Unfortunately I wasn't lucky enough to actually go to NYFW but for the best backstage beauty shots vogue is your go-to, check it out here !
