A/W 14 Make-Up Trends

The best part about season changes is the new trends that come with them. We leave behind the pastel shades and really bronzed skin and welcome the more grungy edgy styles for A/W.
I've spent quite a lot of time trailing through magazines and online sites to round up the clear trends for the coming season and by no means am I saying I'm a make-up artist, but these are my interpretations of the trends.

Look 1 - Graphic Liner & Blue

This look collaborates two major trends graphic liner and blue shades. Whether it's a sweep of blue liner as seen at Kenzo or full on glittery blue eye lids seen at Dior, the colour blue is a trend in itself. But combine it with the graphic liner trend and you've basically killed two birds with one stone. Fab.

Look 2 - Coloured smokey eyes

Shades of teal and purple have been gracing the A/W 14 catwalks and I am loving this trend. The models at Burberry wore a wash of soft purple across the lid, not only is it a new twist on a smokey eye, but it's much more softer and more wearable for those who fear heavy black smokey eyes. Paired with matte skin and gromed brows, this trend looks particulally incredible on blue and green eyes. That's not to say it doesn't look stunning on other eye colours too. Actually screw that that, if done right, this looks good on everyone!

Look 3- Glowy Skin

This is a step up from last seasons highlighted skin, for A/W it's described as being more 'ghoulish' and 'iridescent' -  basically highlighters and illuminators are your new bff. Take a highlighter to the tops of the cheekbones, brow bones and the inner corners of the eyes for a really ethereal look. This trend is very minimalistic, so just a swipe of mascara, groomed brows and a dusting of light pink blusher is all you need to pair with the glow. As for lips, slap on a good hydrating lip balm to compliment the highlighter.
Sticking with the 'kill two birds with one stone' theme, you can also pair this look with berry stained lips to access the berry lip trend that comes around almost every single A/W.
Actually you can kill three birds with this look by adding some wispy or individual lashes to mimick the 60's doll like lashes seen at Rochas, or layer up some mascara for the 90's inspired spidery lashes seen at the Prada show.

Look 4 - Lived in liner.

Grunge is the first word that springs to mind with this trend. Smudgy and smokey, this is probably the easiest trend to do. Take a black eye liner, or brown if you're very fair skinned, run it along your upper and lower lashline, then blend it out using your finger, a brush with a little black/brown eyeshadow on it, or a cotton bud. The models at Tom Ford paired this grungy eye with matte skin and groomed brows.
