The Secret To Curly Lashes

Nothing quite polishes a smudgy smokey, or neutral eye quite like a set of  luscious fluttery lashes. They are the single most important thing in my make-up routine. My deserted island pick would hands down be my mascara (after water, food etc. obviously.), which is why I spend so much time on the hunt for the perfect one.

In my opinion, curled lashes beat long lashes, they just open you're eyes up and make you appear more awake. I'd picked up the Eyeko eye lash curlers free in Elle magazine last month, in hope that it could put me off  buying the Shu Uemura eye lash curlers for a little while longer. But like every other eye lash curler I've ever tried, nothing ever held a curl.

However, I've realised where I'd being going wrong all my life, it wasn't the curlers I was using, it was my mascara. Vivianna, from viviannadoesmakeup.com, swears by using a waterproof mascara in order to hold a curl. So I whipped out my Cover Girl Lash Blast Waterproof mascara and tried it out for myself. I can safely say 8 hours later, my curl was still going strong, as if I'd just curled them.

I've always been put off by waterproof mascaras because they're an absolute nightmare to remove, but I've also recently discovered the best eye make up remover ever (link), making it so much easier to achieve the perfect set of curled lashes without the hassle and tugging to remove it all at the end of the day.

Whilst I still haven't found a waterproof mascara that is actually waterproof(!), I love the hold they give and the lasting power they have (when not in water) and I think this little duo will forever be my holy grail for perfectly curled lashes.
